WHAT IS THE BODY?

WHAT IS ART?

What is the body? What is art? Dancer, choreographer and butoh artist (Info: http://www.algonet.se/~chrismca/js.workshop.html) is pursuing these questions in her art. With roots in Japanese Butoh and influence from conceptual and performance art, the work is directed towards finding a melting point between art and reality. SU-EN: "Butoh is Body.Art. Life". The method aims to re-define the body and create a dancing body. A body which is moving freely in the different conditions of life, transformation into living matters and going beyond the limitation of the individual. The dance might be described as a body where the human shapes have been erased. The aim is to reach the power which goes beyond the individual human. Far away from entertainment, it demands strong concentration from the viewer.

In the eighties I have composed the ritual dance music and I developed raw patterns for ritual moving and dancing in a radical way of dancing on music. Today, my body patterns seem to be related intuitively to Butoh philosophy-elements (1987). (Click > : P-ART RITUAL DANCE).
