SOUNDING SHOWCASES
In the middle of nowhere (Sylvia Bossu)
Ten matrix printers are working beings who
'speak sound' continuously and linked shredder (paper snips) spew
the printed paper into small snips.
In sound installations visual artist Sylvia BOSSU (1962-1995, FR)
decontextualised the original function of daily objects like working
printers and listening at two showcases with a multi amplified
radio CD players. At the expositions of Montelimar (2008,
FR), Sound Time Material (2009, FR) and last at SuperBodies (Hasselt,
Triennale 2012) Bossu's art installations like 'In the middle of
nowhere' (photo) are sounding sculptures.
Undependently for music projects in the nineties I was still
sampling my matrix printer's sound with my Ensoniq MIRAGE
sampler. In the eighties, Baudouin Oosterlynck (B) invited visitors to move with the listening body to "sound integrated" showcases, walls and floors.
